History and Development
Located in the coastal city of Nha Trang, the Naval Academy is a key military institution responsible for training naval officers at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Vietnam. With over 70 years of establishment and development, the Academy has continously expanded in terms of organizational structure, scale, and technical capacity, supported by an increasingly qualified and experienced team of lecturers and educational managers. In addition, it is equipped with modern facilities, including lecture halls, laboratories, simulation training centers, and digital libraries, which effectively support teaching, learning, and research activities. This standardized and modernized educational environment facilitates learners’ comprehensive development and aligns with both national and international higher education trends.
Vision
Building on its tradition of “proactiveness and initiative, overcoming difficulties, unity and discipline, excellent teaching and learning,” (tích cực chủ động, khắc phục khó khăn, đoàn kết kỷ luật, dạy tốt học tốt) the Naval Academy continues to leverage its collective strength, striving to further affirm its position as one of the military’s key training institutions. In doing so, it actively contributes to the development of a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Vietnam People's Navy.
In the 2025-2026 academic year, the Naval Academy is committed to pursuing comprehensive reform to meet the requirements of building a modern Navy, and to address the evolving demands of national defense in the current context.
Mission
The Naval Academy aims to enhance the quality of education and training while developing naval officers with strong political convictions and high professional competence, in order to meet the demands of safeguarding national maritime sovereignty in the new situations.
To fulfill this mission, the Academy has identified several key strategic directions

The Faculty of Natural Sciences and
Foreign Languages
Founded in September 1979, the Faculty of Basic Sciences and Foreign Languages at the Naval Academy plays an important role in enhancing cadets’ foreign language proficiency to meet the demands of defense diplomacy. It is responsible for teaching natural sciences, information technology, and foreign languages to both undergraduate and postgraduate learners. Furthermore, it is in charge of conducting scientific research on related areas, and developing instructional materials for teaching and learning.
The Faculty comprises six divisions: Mathematics, General Physics, General Chemistry, English, Russian, and Informatics. The teaching staff are well-qualified, experienced, dedicated, and always strive to complete their assigned tasks.
In recent years, the Faculty has actively promoted academic collaboration and exchange programs to strengthen both language proficiency and professional expertise for both teaching staff and learners in an increasingly globalized context.
Notably, it has collaborated with the Faculty of English Linguistics and Literature, (HCMUSSH), and the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Khanh Hoa to organize professional exchange and development activities in English teaching and learning.
